Going Home Greyhounds started this fund several years ago in memory of two very special foster dogs, Pineapple and Marie. These dogs came to us extremely sick and in need of an extensive amount of veterinary care. We knew they would never be able to be adopted, but wanted to make sure they experienced love and kindness during the last days of their lives. After their deaths, we decided to start a special fund for dogs whose veterinary care would far exceed the cost of an adoption fee (sometimes by a few thousand dollars!). Donations made to this fund are used exclusively for our "special needs" dogs. This includes the cost of x-rays, extensive laboratory testing to help diagnose an illness, medications, orthopedic specialists, etc. We are proud to say that GHG spares no expense to get the veterinary care any greyhound in our foster program needs. We take dogs that need help the most (usually in threat of euthanasia) and are able to do that because of this fund. We have received many donations in memory of lost beloved pets and also from families who wish donations come to us in lieu of flowers at funerals.
