RUDY (Flying Mead)

On a cool fall September day in 2002 we were given the opportunity to adopt our very first greyhound.
IT'S A BOY - A male brindle with the racing name of Flying Mead. We were so excited to get him home and show him the love and attention that he deserved. He was given the name of "Rudy" (short for Rudy Giuliani) after we discovered the 911 tattoo in his ear.
Rudy had a very unique personality. He lived for his double pillows and bedtime snack. If you even thought for a moment that you were going to sleep in on the weekends, like a rooster, he would remind you that wouldn’t be the case. Rudy loved to lay right in front of us, in a sophisticated pose, and watch us while we watched t.v. He especially loved when family and friends visited. He preferred the honking toys over the squeaky ones and didn't like to share them with anyone else.
Each year our Christmas Tree stayed up longer than usual because of how much he loved to lay near it. There were many nights we would peak out of the bedroom door at night to see Rudy laying right in front of the Christmas Tree - just gazing at the lights in wonder.
During the warm weather days, his favorite thing was to sunbathe in the yard followed up with a cup of vanilla Dairy Queen ice cream or a cup of Frosty Paws. When he would get excited his front paws would turn into "hooks" and he would swat at you. There was a spot on his back that if you scratched it right, he would dance.
He was given the gift of an older brother with whom he looked up to and learned so much from. After his older brother passed on Rudy's broken heart was mended by a younger sister who loved him to no end.
Rest in Peace Rudy. We love and miss you so much. Thank you for bringing such joy to our lives. We will see you again one day but until then rest peacefully with your brother Dilbert in heaven.
Love - Mom, Dad and Annie
