GHG’s “Ask The Vet” column is written by Dr. Mike Pensenstadler who is currently practicing at Pleasant Valley Veterinarian Clinic in McMurray, PA and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1994. Although Dr. Mike is a general practitioner he has special interests in cardiology, oncology (including administering chemo), emergency and critical care medicine, and soft tissue surgery. He performs specialized diagnostics such as ultrasonography, ECG analysis, blood pressure monitoring and in-house cytology. He sees many of our hounds in the south hills area and his clients appreciate his professional as well as his compassionate bedside manner. This column will allow Dr. Mike to explain specific conditions and/or diseases as opposed to diagnosing an individual animal’s illness since that is best done in person with your own veterinarian.

Dr. Mike will pick the most commonly asked questions submitted by you or address a health issue we frequently see in greyhounds including things that may not be as ordinary in other breeds like osteosarcoma, lameness from corns, tumors, diarrhea, normal blood value ranges, etc. If you have a question you’d like to ask, submit ideas to Elaine (who is Dr. Mike’s sister) at elaine.ghg@verizon.net and they will be passed on to Dr. Mike to be considered for a column topic.
