Willow was a momma dog in WV and has personality plus! She's affectionate, outgoing and has recently found her spunky side. She LOVES to race around the yard and play hard with another dog, which is why she was returned. The greyhound she was with just wanted no parts of playing with her. She is completely used to home life and did best in her first home out of the crate but baby gated to a certain area of the house. Willow loves to ride in the car and is a great meet and greeter. She's used to having a potty break after about 6 hours of being alone and will need to be with someone who's not gone much longer than that. We know as soon as you meet her and see that big tail wag, you won't want to go home without her!
UPDATE 10-24-09: Willow is our sweet foster
girl and has settled into her life here just beautifully. She lives with
our male greyhound and two cats (plus a couple of humans to boot!). She
has an excellent appetite, enjoying both treats and mealtime. She will
even try to enjoy the cat's mealtime if she thinks she can get away with
it! In spite of that, she never steals food from the kitchen
counter. Willow
really loves being gently brushed, and has just the softest fur. Willow is very loving and
affectionate, greeting us happily when we come home. She will stand right
beside you and cuddle with you for as long as you like, but she will simply
never get up on the furniture.
We have a large, fenced-in backyard, and she loves both a little
sunbathing and a good run. When running with her male counterpart, it's
clear to see her competitive spirit. She wants to WIN! She is a
very interesting greyhound, I must say. Although indoors she is like most
other greyhounds when it comes to barking, outdoors is a different story.
Our Miss Willow is a veritable watchdog when it comes to guarding the
backyard! She barks at both big and little creatures like deer and birds,
all the neighbor dogs, even occasionally people walking past the house!
She has a big voice!
Now, I know you want to run right over and adopt her immediately,
but I just want to be sure that you are aware of a couple of things about our
dear girl here. Willow
came to us just before Independence Day, and we were to discover that she is
definitely NOT a fan of fireworks or thunderstorms. These things tend to
happen a lot in July. As a result, we ended up with a couple of potty
mistakes at that time. HOWEVER, even after July 4th had come and gone,
there were a couple of problems. In observing her behavior, I came to the
conclusion that Willow
seems to maybe be afraid of the dark (probably because that's when fireworks are most
likely to happen). So, in her last turnout of the day she wasn't leaving
our deck to go potty in the yard. Once I realized this, by merely accompanying
her on the last evening potty break and asking her to "go potty" on
command (she learned immediately) we have not had any more mistakes!
Willow is sweet and
smart... quiet and happy indoors, and quick and playful outdoors! We
absolutely adore her, and I just know you will too!
