Are you interested in doing some volunteer work with Going Home Greyhounds (GHG)? If you have the kind of dog who enjoys meeting new people, is friendly and outgoing, and you would like to be an advocate for greyhound adoption, then consider helping us with Meet and Greets.
Meet and Greets are a time when people who have already adopted get to show off their dog(s) as well as help other greyhounds get adopted. These dogs sell themselves as soon as people spend some time with them! Meet and Greets occur in many different places like pet stores, department stores, malls, shopping centers, festivals, craft shows, dog shows, etc. (basically anywhere that will have us). We schedule a few volunteers and dogs every weekend, set up an informational table that includes a donation bin, picture book with answers to the most commonly asked questions, and display our brochures with adoption applications. It is a time that should be fun for you as well as your dog. We do have to be concerned with some liability issues, and most places limit us to a certain number of dogs and people. Our insurance covers only those people who are scheduled to be at a particular event.
If this sounds like something you would be interested in doing, please contact our volunteer coordinator at volunteer@goinghomegreyhounds.org . The guidelines consist of some information about GHG's policies and procedures and will help equip you to answer the most commonly asked questions from the general public. You will be accompanied by a Meet and Greet trainer your first time scheduled who will guide you throughout the day.
Meet and Greets are our link to the public. It helps people to decide if a greyhound is the right breed for their family. We could not do it without your help. It's a great time, so come help us in advocating the breed, and have some fun while you're at it!
